Fast steering mirror (FSM) platforms are used in imaging, astronomy, laser machining, free space communication, etc. PI's FSMs are based on high-speed solid-state piezoelectric drives & frictionless flexure guides. They provide faster response than galvo-scanners and voice-coil drives and can be used in both static and highly dynamic operation (e.g. scanning, tracking, drift and vibration cancellation).

Advantages of PI piezo steering mirrors are: coplanar multiaxis motion due to parallel kinematics design, fastest response (sub-millisecond), high resolution (up to nanoradian range), long travel ranges (up to 6 degrees deflection).
